Maliki Endorses Obama’s Iraq Plan
Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki supports Barack Obama’s proposal that US troops be gone in 16 months. Maliki spoke to the German magazine Der Spiegel and it is clear he’d like American troops out as soon as possible. Both George Bush and John McCain vowed in the past that any request by the Iraqi government for us to leave should be honored.
“U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes.”
Maliki says he doesn’t want to tell Americans who to vote for, but
“Whoever is thinking about the shorter term is closer to reality. Artificially extending the stay of U.S. troops would cause problems.”

Amazing that Obama is always correct on these topics and Bush and McCain eventually follow him. Seems like the Repubes are in trouble…

General Time Horizon somehow has Maliki second guessing an exit stratagy? its time to shit or get off the pot! enough of this game of sherades.

I’m falling more and more in love with Barack Obama each passing day. Remember, I wasn’t an Obama supporter. But he just makes so much sense. He’s intelligent, compassionate, realistic… of couse the Cons will interpret this as “weakness”- until they grudgingly admit to themselves that it’s the best course of action, and then they’ll pretend that it was THEIR idea from the very beginning.
July 19th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Iraq is not our friend. The new government may be happy now that Saddam is gone, but watch what happens if Messiah Obama has his way. By the way, has everybody seen Messiah Obama greet the leaders in Afghanistan with a kiss kiss. He sure learned Middle Eastern greeting customs quickly. No need to worry though, he’s christian.
July 19th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
I like how conservatives call him the Messiah, and democrats dont. Leave it to them to take religion to far.
July 19th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
The greeting your refering to is very common all over the world.
July 19th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
Now HERE’s where it gets good! The White House accidentally “leaked” this story to the press. It wasn’t supposed to get out. The Bush Administration: One F–k-up after another.

Oh Cheryl you couldn’t be more correct! I have seen this happen over and over again. A Democrat says something and is condemned for it and then years later, the same thing is being said by Republicans. They just change the wording a bit and suddenly they act like a lightbulb just appeared over their head.

It’s disgracful how ALL the politicians have sold us out to Saudi Arabia… I dont know why you Dems pretend that your side isn’t just as bought as Bush is.
Saudi owns this country.

Dave said-

EXCELLENT POINT, Dave. I’ve never heard any liberal pundit refer to Obama as our Messiah, or even allude to him as some kind of magic savior.
Epiphany said-

EXACTLY RIGHT, E. But remember, it’s OKAY when Bush is friendly with the Arabs.

Will Obama tell [them] he’s a Christian?
A white liberation theologist?
Or will he just tell them he’s a pure bred NIG !
Remember! Muslems support muslems!
Bring them troops home(boy)!
KISS MY ASS !!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll worry when Obama does a chicken dance like Bush did with the Saudi prince.
Until then, a customary greeting the world over doesn’t bother me.

The next BASTARD is going to inherit the same mess that Jimmy Carter got dumped in his lap.
It won’t be pretty.
VOTE THE Bastards OUT !
REVOLUTION at the POLLS !
July 19th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
You guys shouldn’t delude yourselves that it is only Bush who is close to the Saudis
All of Washington is bought and owned by them. It’s a major issue that none of the politicians dare bring up.
Yes, i understand Bush is Pres now.. so he should be criticized but is Obama any different?
I doubt it,, before his national aspirations, he was palling around with Palestinians,, his church was publishing the HAMAS charter.. he’s a Saudi wet dream.
July 19th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Perhaps, but the ties between the Bush klan and ruling Saudis as well as the connections to the Bin Lauden family are unique.
No worries about those when Obama is sworn in in 184 days.
July 19th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
And McCain is so sick about it…..he just can’t stand the fact that not only is Obama getting all this attention on his trip( McCain leaked Obama’s trip to Iraq at a findraiser0, but the WH and the Iraqi PM al-Maliki are agreeing with Sen. Obama. Gosh, is McCain ever gonn a shut-up about Obama not visiting the Mid East, and when is he gonn a pull that misleading negative ad about Obama not holding or attending Committee meetings/hearings. Sort of ironic of McCain, the senator with the worst attendance record. Out of 7 Armed Services Committee meetings/hearings, McCain only attended one!!! Why isn’t the media scrutinizing that?!!
July 19th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Everyone knows that Obama will embrace all Muslims they are his “family”. Kiss Kiss. I could care less about his color - it’s his background - it attended terrorist school for goodness sakes. He studied or studies the Quoran. His “christianity” is for political reasons only. The Rev Wright is his “christian” mentor - how in the world could any true christian attend a church for 20 years lead by this man. How convienent he suddenly “retired” this year into a multimillion dollar home on a golf course in a predominently white neighborhood. I think he needs to rethink this - I am sure others in his holy congregation could use this money for the good of the community. Obama is in Afganistan only because he was challenged by Mccain to go there & see for himself the progress the surge has had. Then the liberal media turns this into the second coming with Messiah Obama leading the way - what a hero! I will NEVER watch ABC, NBC, or CBS news again. Everyone should boycott - only watch Fox. I hope they enjoy their romp through the Middle East & get as much footage as they can possibly film - get every far* that Obama lets. Maybe right now Katie Couric is wiping the sweat off his brow, Gibson & Williams are fanning him & feeding him grapes. Yes Sir -No Sir you know he is loving it.
July 20th, 2008 at 1:19 am
Nice distortion of facts there, Mr. Terror.
“Obama is in Afghanistan only because he was challenged by McCain to go there & see for himself the progress the surge has had.”
There was no ’surge’ in Afghanistan; and there is little or no progress there; in fact we are having trouble holding the status quo.
Rev. Wright lead a ‘mega-church’; no different than Falwell, or other right wing preachers. They’ve got a good size retirement package too.
Obama never attended a ‘terrorist’ school and he does not read, perhaps never has read, the Koran.
He’s more ‘Christian’ than you are.
July 20th, 2008 at 2:06 am
Dave,
Well, I guess we know how you greet men. I’ll stick with the handshake.
July 20th, 2008 at 2:51 am
Boogieman,
The Messiah Barack Hussien Obama, a Middle Eastern name, perhaps never read a Koran?
July 20th, 2008 at 3:16 am
This is the danger of having Harvard represent us in every election. We must beware the “Double Cross.” Maliki was practically hand selected by the Bush administration and he could be doing the work for Bush from the other side? Can we trust McCain to end the war? Can we trust Maliki to be loyal to the US? Like it or not, Maliki must go with Bush, McCain, Petraeus and Cheney. We’ve got to start over in Iraq with all new players voted on by the people of Iraq. Get your “Blue Ink Fingers Ready.” My middle finger will be blue from pressing the button for change.

Don’t you want sombody who KNOWS a little something about a little something, instead of the same old buffoons who have no interest in the world except making money with dictators?
July 20th, 2008 at 9:08 am
I know plenty about the Koran yet you shield yourself from the information that I share about what I have learned
Why are you contradicting yourself?
July 20th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Maliki wants us out, and Barack Hussein Obama wants us out. Hell, lets go! But tell them all to kiss our ass when his country is going down the tubes. But then again, when the Messiah Barack Hussein Obama takes over, the world be so peaceful because we all can just talk it out. As the Islamofacists try to destroy us and our way of life, ole Barack will be saying, “Lets just talk”. When New York is a radioactive wasteland, Ole Barack and his Democratic Whiners will be saying “Why do you hate us, Lets Talk this Out”. Good times ahead. Go ahead, vote the Communist in. In 4 years, you will be wanting his kinky head on a platter.
July 20th, 2008 at 10:22 am
James: you’re exactly right. this is speaking about the chief military doctrine strategist of Al Qaeda
That’s what the Sunnis think… this mirrors what the Shiites think:
Both the Sunni and Shiite world recognize that it’s only the Anglospheric countries that are willing and capable of militarily resisting the Islamic Jihad.
They know the rest of the world, particularly the European countries, have no will to fight.. and if the United States is neutralized, then nothing can stop their agenda.
July 20th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Vince P,
Once and for all, your sources are as reliable as someone else quoting WAMY, CAIR, or al Jazeera would be to you.
They are ALL based on the perpetuation of hatred and hostility.
Why do you INSIST on proceeding as though EVERYONE holds YOUR knowledge of Islam in as high esteem as YOU do?
July 20th, 2008 at 10:48 am
my sources are direct quotes. obviously they are too obvious and unambigious for you… they indicate that their plan is not in reaction to some wrong the US has done to them.. but instead they are acting from their religious principles that are independent of your type of petty politics.
Because folks like you are totally consumed by your petty politics (and thus your name) anything in the world that does not follow your model, you must ignore otherwise you would have to reevaluate your model.. which is something you will never do.
July 20th, 2008 at 11:00 am
I could directly quote those from the Klan and the Aryan Nation,, and pick some direct quotes from Rev Hagee, Parsley and Phelps, and present them as evidence of the US being a “racist bigoted, belligerent, war like nation”, but it would be selective and inaccurate.
July 20th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Of course you could change the subject. That is the primary tactic to use when you feel you must compulsively counter any talk about Islamic Jihad.
In fact, you MUST change the subject because as I already established a while ago, you don’t know anything about the subject.
July 20th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I’m sorry, Vince, but you have established NOTHING outside of your OWN mind!
You are not the expert on Islam that you think you are.
July 20th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Since you think yourself qualified to make the determination you have, you must have some basic knoweldge of the subject.
Name one thing I’ve said about Islam that was incorrect.
July 20th, 2008 at 11:56 am
Vince P,
Everything you have said is true of a small portion of the world’s Moslems, just as many anti Christian, anti Semitic, anti black, smears are often true of 1% of that group, if you are receptive, and read the hate literature, it seem to be true of 99.99%.
July 20th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
I never made a claim about what portion of Muslims adhere to Islam’s doctrines.
It’s my position that the percentage of Muslims who do adhere to the full military/political version of Islam is irrevelant.
The essential thing is this
- Is Islam reformable (meaning.. can Islam be stripped of its military/political aspects)
The answer, unfortunately , is no. Islam cannot be reformed in such a way. If such a thing was done, then the result of that process would not be Islam.
Islam is about the submission of the human to the perfect will of Allah as laid out in the uncorrupted Quran.. which is word for word identical to the Quran up there in heaven with Allah.
Islam is about imitating the life of the Messenger of Allah , Mohemmed. An insane, illiterate , sexual deviant warlord.
The extent to which a Muslim lives by Western notions of tolerance and pluralism is the extent to which he chooses to ignore Islamic teachings. It is not evidence of the values of Islam itself.
There is nothing within the Holy Trilogy of Islamic Texts that reformers can use to discredit the mandate of Jihad.
Therefore it doesnt matter if there were 10 billion “peaceful” Muslims… if 1 Million Muslims takes their religion seriously, then those 1 Million Muslims will operate according to the doctrines of Jihad… waging it when it appropiate, and not waging it when appropiate.
Muslims are not to futilely engage in actions against NonMuslims if those acts are doomed to failure. they are to be wise and know when the time is right and know when it is better to give the appearance of co-existance.
After nearly 1,400 years of war with Europe… Europe finally got the upper hand over political Islam with the abdication of the Caliphate by the Turk Republic in 192x. A process that had its beginning with the American defeat of the terrorist North African Muslim States in the 1800s.
The early and mid 20th Century was an abberation in the history of Islam as a global political/military force and it has given us a false impression on the significance of the Islam doctrines of Caliphate and Jihad.
There were people around in the early 1900s who realized how the West would fall into a state of amnesia about Islam and not realize the implications should Islam experience revival:
Hilaire Belloc wrote in 1938:
“Will not perhaps the temporal power of Islam return and with it the menace of an armed Mohammedan world, which will shake off the domination of Europeans — still nominally Christian — and reappear as the prime enemy of our civilization? The future always comes as a surprise, but political wisdom consists in attempting at least some partial judgment of what that surprise may be. And for my part I cannot but believe that a main unexpected thing of the future is the return of Islam”.
Bishop Fulton J Sheen wrote in 1950:
“Today (1950), the hatred of the Moslem countries against the West is becoming hatred against Christianity itself. Although the statesmen have not yet taken it into account, there is still grave danger that the temporal power of Islam may return and, with it, the menace that it may shake off a West which has ceased to be Christian, and affirm itself as a great anti-Christian world Power”.
Were they neocons looking for a future enemy so that Prescot Bush’s family could go to war in Iraq? No. They were clear-thinkers who knew the mindset of decadant Westerners all too well.
July 20th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
And, if only one percent get their way, they will attempt to destroy this country. 1 percent of cancer is still deadly. And, if it is only one percent, why isnt the rest of the Muslims up in arms of the misrepresentation the one percent makes? Long and short of it, they want us dead or subjugated. They dont care if you are Democrst, Republican, Liberal or Conservative.
July 20th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
James said,
“And, if only one percent get their way, they will attempt to destroy this country. 1 percent of cancer is still deadly”
……………………………………………
I think they REALLY got you where they want you;
(Both Bush AND bin Ladin).
It was EXACTLY that sentiment that inspired great Americans who had the courage to face the world’s largest super power at the time , to say things like:
” Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
-Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
—Samuel Adams
July 20th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Thanks for making my point. What liberty am I giving up to want to hold these hethens at bay, or to destroy those who want to destroy us. Fight them here, or fight them there, but we are and will fight them. What all of you liberals seem to forget is that these people dont care who they kill
July 20th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
James,
You already gave up the 4th amendment.
Now they can wiretap your phones, and read your e mails….. and so can Barack Obama if he is the president.
Before the SCOTUS ruling, they could grab YOU, call you an enemy combatant, torture you and lock you away forever.
…………….
“What all of you liberals seem to forget is that these people dont care who they kill”
……………
Neither did Timothy McViegh, but we Actually took care of him and didn’t drop bombs on his neighborhood.
And Bush/Cheney don’t care who they kill, as long as there are war profits to be made!
July 20th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
You are dont seriously believe that last statement do you Old Lefty? Come on now.
I do agree with you, if may call you this, my friend, that we are giving up way to much freedom in this country. That is scary, no matter what your political stripe. It continues to erode and we must all watch intently that we do not loose more. See, we can agree on some things!!
July 20th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
I ABSOLUTLE believe it. I think these are very immoral people.
I think 9/11 happened because they were more interested in missle shields and getting into Iraq, than in combating terrorism.
It was ONLY about using our kids and our treasury to help THEM steal Iraq’s natural resources for their cronies and donors..
Look, I know I used this quote before, but here it goes again, From a true conservative:
— Kevin Phillips writing about the Bush family in American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush
“This is not a family that has a particularly strong commitment to American democracy. Its sense of how to win elections comes out of a CIA manual, not out of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.”
Phillips was a senior strategist for Richard Nixon’s 1968 campaign, which was the basis for a book, The Emerging Republican Majority, which predicted a conservative realignment in national politics, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential recent works in political science.
July 20th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
James: OldLefty only sees (imagined) threats from Bush.. everything else is hunky dory.
July 20th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
I agree. I thought maybe he could be reasonable.
July 20th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Vinnie Pee…
July 20th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Actually, I wanted them to get bin Ladin, and protect the ports,(remember…THEY wanted to turn them over to the UAE.)
I wanted them to protect the chemical and nuclear plants.
I wanted them to find the anthrax killer.
I wanted them to provide more resources to first responders.
I wanted Bush and Cheney to testify under oath to the 9/11 commision, AND I wanted Bush to be able to testify by HIMSELF, and not have to have Cheney with him.
I wanted Bush to DRASTICALLY change relations with the Saudis,( the BIGGEST sponsors of Islamic terrorism),AND to call for a Manhattan Project to get us off of their oil.
I wanted them to give up their pre 9/11 plan to invade Iraq, and go after al Qaeda.
I wanted them to do ALL of these things, EVEN if it meant they couldn’t have the big tax cuts, by asking more of Americans, than just..”Go Shopping”!
And so you see, ALL these things are NOT just “hunky dory”!
July 20th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
I think Old Lefty brought up Mark Twain the other day… I have no idea if it was on this page (I haven’t bothered to scroll through it)
I was just reminded of Mark Twain’s writing about his trip to Israel… I think it was called Innocents Abroad….
It’s hysterical.. especially when he’s talking about his visits to the landmark churches in Jerusalem
July 21st, 2008 at 12:10 pm
You know I don’t give a damn what Maliki thinks. I only care about what the Generals think. If Maliki was capable of truly taking care of his people, and knowing how to handle things without our help we wouldn’t have had to go over there in the first place.
July 21st, 2008 at 7:47 pm
“The only Western power still capable of resisting is the United States, he believes. But that, too, will change once President Bush is gone.”
Now why would our enemy compliment George Bush by implying he’s the only one qualified to protect the U.S. from an attack? Makes one wonder.
