jake: Akan I hope you are not pulling a Matt Drudge and uppping your visitor counter then refreshing every 10 seconds - you'l have 10 billion "visitors" or "hits" just like he claimed in no time at all.
jake: You gott fix the refresh / ideo issue - I have tried three times to watch it and i just gave up.
RC: And, heh, it just did it again, so it looks like the video doesn't fit between refreshes.
RC: Hmm, the auto-update just interrupted the Corsi video replay
RC: Well, if it doesn't auto-update, it's not really streaming, so what's the point?
seedyh: to be an american again After the neo-cons are in gitmo!
FuRyUs: Why does this scroll upside down?
FuRyUs: Great. You read it...

Wikipedia: “Zabar’s is a specialty food store, founded by Louis Zabar, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It is one of the best known commercial landmarks of the Upper West Side, and is known for its selection of bagels, smoked fish, olives, and cheeses. It occurs frequently in popular culture references to the area, such as in the 1998 film You’ve Got Mail and on the sitcoms Will & Grace, Dream On, Mad About You and The Nanny.”
So, I guess it’s kind of like Walmart is to Joplin?
Michelle’s hairdo is better this time (lost the 70s black Pantherette look) but BO has gone Hasidic?

This is getting to be like a mosquito bite, or a nip from one of the horseflies like they have down at Jones Beach.
They got their free publicity. Now won’t they please just go away?

Now that’s funny!

Cheryl - I hope you see this I know you’ve been having laptop problems. Remember the other night we were talking about the drilling leases? I said there was a clip where Asman was arguing with NJ Senator Mendendez? Bout a spot off the west coast of Florida? Ok, this is from Glen Beck transcripts and explains more than that arguement did. I’ll post what I read closest, then I’ll post the whole transcript.
“Okay. Let me give you a story. 1981 secretary of interior proposed opening almost the entire Outer Continental Shelf to drilling. The environmentalists, surprise, surprise back in 1981 went crazy. California congressional delegation slipped in a provision into a bill the same year that placed a moratorium on drilling off of the California shores. Congress enacted separate moratoriums for Cal Florida, California, New Jersey, North Carolina. None of these bans covered what is called the Destin Dome. Destin Dome is a formation in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s about 25 miles off of Pensacola, Florida. Experts say it has enough natural gas to supply a million homes for 30 years, this one place.
Well, under Reagan, 1981, Chevron leased this dome. It’s federal land. They have the lease for the dome, 1981. They drilled three wells to explore, one in 1987, one in ‘89 and one in ‘95. They found an estimated 2.6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. So story ends. We’re pumping the gas, right? No, no. The lease only gave Chevron the right to drill, not to produce the gas. They could drill. They just can’t take it out. The lease that they had on the Destin Dome, they could find it but they had to go back and get federal approval to actually take it out. In 1996 Chevron submitted a developed plan to the state and interior department. They proposed drilling 21 different wells. They said as few as 12 but maybe as much as 21. Florida officials took their time dragging their feet deciding whether or not to grant Florida’s — grant Chevron’s request. Eventually two years went by and they were denied. Chevron appealed the decision to the department of congress. Congress sat on the appeal. Eventually in 2000 — remember this started in 1981. In 2000 the commerce department, doing nothing on the appeal, Chevron said, okay, what are you guys doing to us. They sued the federal government in order to compel it to act. While the lawsuit was pending, Bush met with his brother Jeb, who was the Florida governor if you remember right. They agreed to have the federal government buy back the leases for $115 million and place a moratorium on the drilling in this dome until 2011. Now, why did that happen?”
Here’s the link. I wish we could rein in these politicians, all of them. I’d rather the oil companies screw us than those we actually elect.

Vince, did you watch the Your World interview with Menendez. He was so rabid. That’s what I’d like to find.
July 17th, 2008 at 11:51 am
LV: I did not. Where can i find it.
July 17th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
I’ve searched Foxnews but they don’t have more than the fact that the interview happened. Menendez was vile and Asman just kept asking him to answer the question. I wish I could find it because it shows what these politicans do. Ignore the people. The interview happened on the 7th.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
They better not do that. Obama has thin skin and will be offended.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
i don’t get this picture at all. is it more satire? is it satire on the new yorker cover? i’m so confused.
RC- barach HASSIDIC obama, pretty damned funny
LV- you are awesome! thanks for posting that for me. i’ll read and comment in a sec.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Vince, the closest I came is an interview on Fox Business where Menendez explained his pov.
He has the right to his point, but he is working for us. I believe the majority of us want answers and the only answers we seem to be getting from DC is no new drilling for oil or gas, no nuclear, no wind, no solar, no hydro, no geo-thermal. WTF? What exactly will we use to keep our economy strong?
And Alan, this is not the right wing talking points. This is my research into it. Watching all different news channels, as many interviews on both sides as I can stand and watching CSPAN.

Oh, look at that. I’m using a new computer and didn’t realize my name wasn’t on it…when it posted it made me anonymous.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
LV- i really appreciate the info. this old laptop is KILLING ME.
this lease issue is bullshit, and i’m getting really sick and tired of the fact that the issue is not being fully explored and researched by the media. the reality that it’s not being reported supports the wide held belief that the media is controlled by liberals.
alan- i know that you have an assistant and producers… why haven’t any of them delved into the oil lease issue? it’s not enough to just say that there are 68 million acres that aren’t being drilled and/or are not producing, we need to know WHY. without knowing the whole story, how are we going to come to a proper resolution? we need the whole story so that we can ask the damned politicians the RIGHT questions, questions that let them know we’re not fucking stupid, and that we want this fixed NOW.
come on, Big A…
July 17th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
thank you Cheryl. But remember, if you keep the masses ignorant it’s easier to take control of them. Look at all the 3rd world countries around the world. That’s why Communist China and Africa et al block internet and other forms of the people educating themselves.
July 17th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Alan, when it goes to live chat, will we still be able to come on later and have our say?
July 17th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
A few sources about the 68 milllion acres:
~ Rahall to Big Oil: Use It or Lose It
Congressman Wilson Wants to Drill for Oil
~ U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) held a press conference in Washington, D.C. today calling on oil companies to drill on the more than 68 million acres owned by the federal government onshore and offshore that they currently hold leases but have not developed
***NOTE***This opinion-editorial submission appeared in the Salem News on Monday, June 30, 2008, titled, “Oil companies already have plenty of places to drill.”
Congressman John F. Tierney (D-MA):
Yes, Drill - The 68 Million Acres Already Under Lease
~ DeFazio, D-4th District, started the latest round of this argument with a press release Tuesday. He had joined nine other Democrats in introducing HR 6251, the “Responsible Federal Oil and Gas Lease Act of 2008.”
~ Hinchey Votes To Compel Big Oil To Begin Drilling On
68 Million Acres Of U.S. Land It Already Controls But Hasn’t Touched
Congressman Tells Oil Companies To Use Already Existing Leases
Or Lose The Rights To Those Acres
e said the bill was intended to force oil and gas companies
July 17th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
OldLefty,
The hearings you mention were nothing more than an opportunity for Democratic congressman to do some grandstanding. They had already been informed by the oil companies there was not enough oil in the region from prior drillings. As far as lease rights are concerned, loss clauses are enlosed within the lease agreements. These same Democratic nitwits took another grandstand posture and held another hearing today making the same statements and threats to the oil companies. The companies again stated the acreage in question is not productive. These Democratic congressman just don’t get it.
July 17th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
OldLefty,
You’re just like these nitwit congressman. Listen up OldLefty. The oil companies know where the oil is. The Democratic congressman know where the oil is. The environmentalists know where the oil is. The oil companies want to drill for that oil, but THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMAN AND THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS WILL NOT ALLOW THE COMPANIES TO DRILL WHERE THE OIL IS. GET IT?
July 17th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
“The Conservative said,
The hearings you mention were nothing more than an opportunity for Democratic congressman to do some grandstanding.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s what my side says about Republicans saying they need to be able to drill in MORE places.
Why would anyone believe the oil companies when they are making record profits?
There is too much of a conflict of interest.
These corporate welfare people just don’t get it
The Messiah and his bride as Jews. Hilarious.
July 17th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
…if there is no oil there, why did the oil companies pay to get the leases?
How appropiate that The New Yorker has had the sense to portray the “OSAMA” clan in their native garb. Now if only the bastions of leftist lunacy The Jew York Times and Jewsweak would follow their lead. Since most don’t know in the “islamic” (slobish) faith the progeny of the father are members by default of his religious affiliation (affliction in this case)as was his father so is HUSSIEN Obama. I am quite pleased at the accurate depiction of Michele (AMERICA HATER) Osama. What disturbes me is the absence of the mongrels this unholy union has produced. I’m sure if they were depicted accurately they would be adorned with hand grenades on bandoliers and sharpened spears pointed at some unarmed US soldier or law enforement officer. Where are these little jihadists since their “baby daddy” pimped them out in an interview? Why doesn’t Barack HUSSEIN Osama allow the media access to these students of hate? What is he and his “BEEATCH” afraid of? Could the chilluns tell the real truth about the beliefs espoused by their parents? America deserves answers!!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Suntan- thanks for crawling out of your dingy little hole and blessing us with your presence. It’s always a treat to have a bonafide member of the Ku Klux Klan in our midst.
July 17th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Go screw yourself you (as Jesse Jackson would say) NIGGER LOVER!! What is wrong with using the same terminology used by such a prominent “man of GOD”? If it’s ok for Jerkson to use on national TV then it is OK for me to use the term also, anyone that would disagree would be DISCRIMINATING against me! Are you a hypocrite Cheryl? As the “REV?” has made clear it’s OK for all to use such descriptive terms. Jesse Jackson must be taken at his word and that word is NIGGER!!!!!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Have you paid for Lifetime Membership to the Klan yet, or are you still paying your dues annually?
July 17th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
I’m not a Klan member nor a white supremesist. I’m just a REALIST who lives in the REAL WORLD where the Black community commits a disproportinate amount of crime and father 78% of their chilluns out of wedlock. What’s wrong with citing statistics and quoting a supposed “MAN of GOD” if the word “NIGGER” is good for the “REV?” then it’s good enough and proper enough for all to use. The “BLACK” community doesn’t own that word it belongs to all of us and if such a “well respected” man such Jerkson can use it I to will excersise my right to use it also. Anything less would be discrimination against me and anyone else who would like to express themselves accurately, sometimes there is only one word to describe someone such as Barack HUSSEIN Obama and I deem him a “NIGGER”, that is my right under OUR constitution and I intend to excersise my right.
Got to have your back on this one Cheryl…suntan seems to be a bit over the top. He likes to call everyone names so I’ll just call him one: ASSHOLE
July 18th, 2008 at 12:59 am
LOL, budda! you and me working together?! who would’ve thought. i’m just kidding. i don’t even remember what we argued about.
are you going to join us live one night?
July 18th, 2008 at 1:08 am
I travel a lot. I’m just now in my motel room, trying to de-buzz. I scan frequently but alas, I find it hard to be on consistently…must sleep
July 18th, 2008 at 1:36 am
With a name like Budda you must be a “weight challenged” individual and as such most of the excess lard must be carried between your ears. I’m just wondering which one of your parents is responsible for that affliction. You know there is a thing called exercise both physical and mental and I bet you haven’t had much of either. I live in the real world where over 2/3 of the “black community” has criminal records and are responsible for their own wretched existence. This in addition to the refuse that has floated north across the River Grand has diluted the values of our great country by failing to abide by our most basic laws one of which is to wait your turn to enter. I bet if you were waiting in line to use a toliet you’d be pretty upset that someone had cut in front of you but being a liberal I’d bet your Budda self would use that as an excuse to urinate or defecate in public. What really amuses me is that when unable to legitimately argue a point with facts you and those of your ilk resort to name calling. Now go cry your slovenly self to sleep as I prepare for another hot day here in NJ and hang out my freshly hand laundered thongs in preparation to tan my firm, muscular ass in tommorrows blazing sun. I just bet someone with a screen name as yours wears a shirt in the pool and ocean thus leaving the shapely chicks and milfs for me.
July 18th, 2008 at 1:48 am
“RC- barach HASSIDIC obama, pretty damned funny…”
I still don’t get it. And frankly if people hadn’t been saying it’s Obama in the illo I wouldn’t have gotten that either.
Do people actually read this magazine anywhere outside of Manhattan? I don’t think I’ve seen an actual copy for something like thirty years.
July 18th, 2008 at 3:07 am
suntan: lets see, where do I start? I’ve finished 14 marathons (that’s 26.2 miles ) I have a couple of college degrees and could care less what some A-hole filled with so much angst thinks and spews.
July 18th, 2008 at 11:16 am
Suntan,
So you must REALLY be rooting for Obama, so that “these” people have a good role model!
July 18th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Old Lefty, sure I’d support Barack HUSSEIN Obama if I was assured that the same fate that befell McKinley, Lincoln and Kennedy would be visited upon his worthless America Hating Ass. Just look at who he surrounds his arrogant self with, eg. “Rev?” Jeremiah Wrong, Louis (I HATE WHITEY)Farrahkan and “Professor?” William (BOMB AMERICA) Ayers. Anyone who would associate themselves with these outright HATERS of our great country belongs scubbing toliets not in The White House. And as far as his “BEEATCH” Michele, she would look more at home chanting, marching, and blocking traffic in native african garb behind such hate inciting figures as Al (huckster and charlatan) Sharpton. My only regret is that those that accompanied Sharpton in his shutdown of NYC recently weren’t crushed by some gravel truck streets and then scraped from our fair streets by the sanitation street sweepers.
July 18th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Suntan,
What about worthless America Hating Asses of McCain’s buddies, from the Christian right?
Hagee blamed Katrina on America.
“Religious Right leader Francis Schaeffer — denounced America and even called for the violent overthrow of the US government, he was invited to lunch with presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush, Sr.”
Jerry Fawell and Pat Robertson said America deserved 9/11.
John McCain was asked:
“How can I be proud of my country?” (a questioner) asked Sen McCain
“I’ll admit to you that it’s tough, it’s tough in some respects,” McCain said.”
Bush’s business associates include Shafig and Salim bin Ladin, family brothers of Osama. and the Saudis who donate to al Qaeda.
I’ll stack Barack and Michelle Obama’s REAL patriotism against the far right wing,s phoney patriotism any day!
July 18th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Chad,
Listen carefully little boy. Here is a tiny 6th Grade class. You can’t drill a well on anyones property without first having the approval of the owner. There is’nt any way of knowing if the oil is there until a well is established, so the oil company enters a lease agreement with the owner to find out. Get It?
July 18th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
So let me get this right, oil companies just randomly purchase lease agreements. Maybe they have some idea of potential oil under the property before they lease? Why would they spend good money on a property that has no potential for gas or oil? I think these companies are sharp enough to have done some research.
Oh, and I am not a little boy, I’m big enough to kick your conservative ass into the twenty first century.
Love and kisses
July 18th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
chad: are you saying Congress is surveying the land and making nice pretty brocures like “Plot 972480678904793 has an eternity of oil waiting for you to exploit should you pass the 6.02 x 10^23 regulatory hurdles we put in your way”
No… someone took a pen and circled some land/ocean and said “no one has rights to this and we dont care about it.. let oil companies lease the land/ocean and survey it”
July 18th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Vince that is not what I said. And just who is this ’someone’ you refer to that takes a pen and circles areas and says:” no drilling here”? States vary, but “Mineral Rights” usually go along with the deed to a property and if a company wants some of those minerals they must ‘purchase’ the rights to aquire them.
I own a tenth share of an oil/gas well in south Texas, what’s your knowledge and experience of this issue?
July 18th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
>And just who is this ’someone’ you refer to that takes a pen and circles areas and says:” no drilling here”?
I’m talking about the public land leases, you must have been talking about private land leases.. if that’s the case,t hen we’re talking about different things ,my comment dont apply to private situation
July 18th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Ah, public land. That someone who draws the circle would be the government. I don’t think it is done arbitrarily, there must be a reason or concern. Of course it can be challenged internally or in court, but still you must have a justifiable argument not just a desire to make more money. Public lands are the citizens lands, not the oil companys.
July 19th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Chad,
I’m a white male, 5′6″ and 170 lbs. I’ve trained as a fighter for eight years, and train in the gym every day. You would’nt stand a chance. Find a girl to pick on tough guy.
July 19th, 2008 at 7:52 am
Chad,
I don’t care how big you are. The last guy who tried to take advantage of my size was 6′2″, approximately 220 lbs. I gave him a short lesson in humility and sent him over his desk in seconds, so take you little threat and stick it where the sun does’nt shine. LITTLE BOY.
