Chris Dodd Being Vetted
July 11th, 2008, 6:20 PM EDT

And there are already critics saying a long-time Washington insider like Connecticut’s Senator Dodd wouldn’t represent “change”, but the Hartford Courant points out his legislative achievements, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act and his work on behalf of first responders. Also, he is a senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. And even Joe Lieberman says recent headlines alleging he got VIP treatment for a loan shouldn’t be a drawback.
Dodd says, “There’s been some inquiries, yeah. They ask for a lot of stuff. I’ll leave it there.

ALAN COLMES ROCKS!!!!! - But Not as much as Sean Hannity! ;-)

Chris Dodd wouldn’t be a bad choice, he looks extremely white in that picture btw :P

I like Biden
July 11th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
I also like Chris Dodd. He’s a smart man and would make a fine addition to Obama’s cabinet
July 11th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Dodd is a lightweight. Biden is a MUCH better choice. If you’re gonna get a lib, get a really intelligent one.

Flap:
I also like Joe Biden. He’s very intelligent and has very practical ideas to resolving the problems facing the nation today. However, I don’t consider whether our elected officials are liberal or conservative. If their views match mine (no war/senseless killing, against torture, etc.) I tend to gravitate toward them. I also like Chuck Hagel, and he’s a conservative.

TDro… now that you mention it, if Obama decided to run with Hagel (R) I would support that. Would definitely prove he is serious about not being partisan.

Remember what Obama said, “There will be no leaks.” If your name is mentioned or you get 15 minutes, then it’s safe to say,”It won’t be that person.” It won’t be Gen. Wes Clark, Rev. Jesse Jackson, or fill in the blank.

Maybe if Dodd is the guy we could all get preferential mortgage rates from Countrywide. He could get us all on the VIP list.

it would be VERY interesting to see Obama pick a Republican running mate. i believe that move would be unprecedented in American political history.

Cheryl: It’s very precedented
Originally, the Electors of each State would vote for two persons for the Office of President.
The winner would be President and the runner up would be Vice President.
So this meant that the John Adams/Thomas Jefferson adminstration was of different parties.
They fought like bitches.
So for the 1800 election, Jefferson’s party planned that it would ensure that that Jefferson get the most votes, followed by Burr so that J could be president and Burr be the Vice President. This meant that the Electors controlled by the Democratic-Republicans would all vote for TJ, and all but one vote for Burr (because each elector would vote for two individuals).
Well someone didn’t follow the rules, and TJ and Burr were tied.
Because of the tie, the election decision goes to the House of Represenatives. The House in 1800 was still dominated by Federalists who hated Jefferson.
It took 36 votes to end the battle.
After that election they changed the Constitution so that the Pres and VP run as a team.
In 1864 the Republican Abraham Lincoln selected Whig Democrat Andrew Johnson as his running mate.
So there were two adminstrations where the parties differed..
Adams’ and Lincoln’s

Cheryl: I love history.

I like Biden. I don’t like Dodd not one bit, but then I don’t like Obama either. Nor McCain. As scary as this makes me feel, I kinda wish Hil were still in the running.
July 12th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I don’t like any of them.
And until it was finally revealed that Obama is a Unilateral-Disarming racist Marxist, I was not going to vote at all.
A lot of peolpe I know weren’t going to vote.
But now we’re all holding our noses and voting for McCain because Obama would endanger the security of the country and he would bring dishonor to our awesome military people who deserve someone who respects them.
July 12th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Same here Vince. My budget can’t afford Obama’s nanny state either.
July 12th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
We don’t need to worry about the nanny state. The last seven years have proven beyond any question that we can spend spend spend and never raise taxes. We can have the nanny state and the perpetual war machine both! We can have a chicken in every pot, a Hummer in every garage, and fourteen assault rifles in every room of the home, with leather-bound copies of the Bible! It would be universal happiness! We can have everything we want! Just spend spend spend!
In fact, we can eliminate all taxes. The government doesn’t need income in order to spend spend spend.
Crikey! It would be ultra-voodoo economics!
