Ouch!
Jesse Jackson has a problem with Barack Obama’s stance on the government’s involvement in faith-based charities and thinks he’s talking down to black people. So incensed is Jackson at Obama that he wants to “cut his nuts off.” Unfortunately, Jackson expressed this sentiment in front of a live microphone.
Jackson apologized for any offense he may have caused, and said,
“My support for Senator Obama’s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal. I cherish this redemptive and historical moment.”
Especially unusual is a press release put out by the reverend’s son, Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. of Chicago:
“I’m deeply outraged and disappointed in Reverend Jackson’s reckless statements about Senator Barack Obama. His divisive and demeaning comments about the presumptive Democratic nominee — and I believe the next president of the United States — contradict his inspiring and courageous career…
“Reverend Jackson is my dad and I’ll always love him. He should know how hard that I’ve worked for the last year and a half as a national co-chair of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. So, I thoroughly reject and repudiate his ugly rhetoric. He should keep hope alive and any personal attacks and insults to himself.”
I’d love to be at the next father-son dinner.

OOPS ! right church wrong row Alen. Jesse called for a ban on the word “nigger” in 2006
I just wonder if the “ban” still exists after today?
with a man like jesse suporting you, how can barack loose?
July 9th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
I don’t envy you tonight during “First Word” Alan. It’s going to be like one of those full moon nights!
July 9th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
directorpooh, you are truly psychic! Wow! lol.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
What is incredible is the fact that Jackson was recorded during an open mic interview on what channel? FOXNEWS!
Do any people think that maybe this wasn’t a mistake? Leaving a mic in a portion of an interview that no conversation is being done?
WHO IS THE STUPID FUCK FOXNEWS REPUBLICAN DIPSHIT ANCHOR THAT LEFT THE MIC ON WHILE JACKSON WAS TALKING?
And how come it never happens to any Republican on the Republican Channel of Foxnews?
Even the so-called liberal sell-out Alan Colmes tried to spin it saying ‘oh its about the issue of the words, not the mic being left on’
Well actually about the mic being so-called left on also!
Even on this blog, Colmes is trying to make fun and create a feud between Democrats to smear Obama.
After trying to convince myself and creating excuses for why Colmes is the way he is on H&C, FINALLY i have come to accept, Colmes is just a sell-out liberal on the Republican Channel of Foxnews.
Congratulations Colmes and the rest of your GOP Channel, you score again with another cheap political point in trying to smear at any level the DNC and our political candidate Barack Obama.
Colmes, your a disgrace!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Louie: I bet Fox used an invisible microphone, that uses electromagnetic waves to hover just next to Jesse’s lips without touching… just waiting for the moment for Jesse to dis a brother.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
I am also very disappointed that Alan is participating in this sleazy exercise of GOTCHA concerning Jesse Jackson who was obviously pissed off for the moment and privately whispering about it to another guest.
What he said was not for the public’s ears and I do think he was entitled to not having this crap smeared all across the media.
Then you had Bill O’Reilly earlier this evening bestowing great virtuous accolades to himself and Fox News for not revealing WHAT ELSE Jackson said. There by letting the audience know that there’s more (ooooh tell us tell us Bill!), but Fox is such an ethical and professional organization that we won’t show you the rest.
WHAT BULLSHIT! WHAT A BUNCH OF PUTRID SLEAZEBAGS!
What’s next Fox News? Putting cameras and mics in your bathrooms? Could get some real dirt in there!
I don’t blame ANYONE for refusing to appear on Fox. With that recent doctored photo of the NY Times reporter, the crap against Michele Obama, the terrorist fist bump, and an endless array of twists, spins and lies against Barack, Democrats etc, how can anyone take Fox News seriously enough to want to engage them in anything meaningful.
I watch Fox News less and less each month and I am all the better for it.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Hillary voted against the FISA bill. Wow. Good for her. Shame on you Barack.
And thank you Alan for finally talking about this extremely important issue.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
This is just unfortunate for the Obama camp. Lets just hope none of this stuff pops up before the election!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Shame on Obama and my two senators, Pryor and Lincoln (DINO) for voting for the FISA bill. FYI, I listen to the radio program, but I don’t watch Fox (Fix) News!
I can’t stand it. I began to watch MSNBC and I like it better.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:44 am
he wants to cut his nuts off? LOL LOL LOL LOL
this is HILARIOUS. i’m sure that most politicians talk like this all the time. it’s bullshit that the mic was “accidentally” left on to catch a personal comment. who hasn’t made comments like that when we thought no one was listening/watching? how many of us have walked out of a meeting at work, turned to a co-worker, and said that they’d like to cut their bosses nuts off?
well, even if you haven’t used the exact phrase, most of us have said something like it.
this is bullshit.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:31 am
How long did you think you could keep Jesse Jackson in a box? You can’t keep him in a box, you can’t keep him off of Fox, and you can’t fill him mouth with rocks. You can’t silence Jesse with dirty soxs, hunky jocks, or even ham hocks. Jesse was going to bring the noise at sometime in this election because he rocks. Jesse must have found out that he’s not getting Obama’s Senate seat? Ouch is right.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:03 am
LMAO, Cecil
July 10th, 2008 at 3:17 am
You know, if Senator Obama’s “Change We Can Believe In” moves us past cheaply staged stunts like this, that would merit some real consideration.
Talk about “putting the F in Farce”.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:14 am
WHO IS THE STUPID FUCK FOXNEWS REPUBLICAN DIPSHIT ANCHOR THAT LEFT THE MIC ON WHILE JACKSON WAS TALKING?
WHAT BULLSHIT! WHAT A BUNCH OF PUTRID SLEAZEBAGS!
Ironic that Louie and Epiphany have responses like this WHILE talking about Fox’s overreaction.
I think it’s hilarious and a non-issue, but it’s worth airing since it was picked up by the mic. I actually feel sorry for Jackson since he does support Obama and he was just expressing a little aggravation at a particular issue. Big deal.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Louie the liberal spewed:
Do any people think that maybe this wasn’t a mistake?
Leaving a mic in a portion of an interview that no
conversation is being done?
The question I want answered is how did fox know that jesse was going to go off on barack? They wouldn’t have left the mic open if all jesse was going to talk about was baseball. It must be common knowledge behind the scenes the widening divide in the black population over barack.
Jesse spoke truth to power and lost.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Louie…funny how conservatives criticize me for supproting Obama and you criticize me for not supporting him enough. If you think I’m trying to divide Democrats, I don’t know what planet you’re on.
Furthermnore, anchors don’t control mikes, and the mike wasn’t left on to “catch” Jesse Jackson. He should know better than to talk like that when attached to a microphone and with a camera staring at him.
Epiphany…I’m “partcipating” in talking about what was the political news of the evening. I wasn’t playing “gotcha”, as I was defending Jackson by putting it in perspective. At the same time, you don’t talk like that when you’re sitting in a studio waiting to go on satellite. See the movie “Feed”.
Bozak: The mike wasn’t left on because some producer had psychic powers and knew what Jesse was or wans’t going to say.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
OMG !!! I need to print this out ! Alan had some dialog here on liberalland.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
You can bet if the mic was “accidentally” left on during an interview with a conservative on any other station, Fox would be outraged! How unethical! How unprofessional!
July 10th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Mr. S said~
“OMG !!! I need to print this out ! Alan had some dialog here on liberalland.”
I know. Ain’t it cool? He comments sometimes, and he typically gives us a shout-out on the air during the Friday Night Free For All.
I don’t care that Jesse wants to cut Barack’s nuts off. It’s just wishful thinking anyway, as he’ll never get pass Michelle. That woman is in shape!
July 10th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
She reminds me of King Leonidas’ wife in the movie 300. Did you guys see that? The end when she stabs that motherfucker… that’s a victory moment for women everywhere!
July 10th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
TO ALAN COLMES:
The issue isn’t the fact that the mic was left on, Jackson should of known better..
the issue is the fact that FOXNEWS released this story for what reason????????
TO HELP JACKSON? no
TO HELP OBAMA? no
what was the reason this story was released by foxnews??
TELL THE BLOG ALAN COLMES!
July 10th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
TO ALAN COLMES!
also, i never critize you for not supporting obama.
I could care less who you support, the issue is why was the tape release? and for what reason?
thats what i want to know.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Louie~ The tape was released for ratings, because ratings equal money. I don’t take issue with a reasonable amount of controversy for the sake of ratings. The purpose of business is to make money. Money isn’t a bad thing.
One thing I do want you to consider is this- if the mic had been left on and someone like Karl Rove had said he wanted to cut McCain’s nuts off… would you be feeling the same way?
July 10th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
It’s not a big deal if either a liberals or a conservative says it. If Rove said it about McCain it’d be the same deal. I think Fox or any other network would and should air it…it’s interesting (and funny).
Watch the video again and see Rev. Jackson doing a “nut-cutting” move with his right arm at the tail end. Hilarious, although the Youtube vid is low quality and you almost can’t pick it up.

July 10th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
cheryl, i agree it was because of rating but also it was released to smear jackson and obama.
to create a feud between them.
even though oreilly released it even though jackson appeared on his show late last year and still oreilly had the nerve to smear him.
but some say it helped obama…
but still im still angry over the releasing of the tape
July 10th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
I think someone already beat Jesse to the cutting off of Barrack Hussein bin Bama’s nuts. He don’t have enough balls to face McCain in a series of town hall meetings. Baraaaawk baawk baawk bawk chicken shit Obama jama.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:08 am
Louie the Lib. Why don’t you take your meds and chill? If you can’t handle a network that lets Conservatives have a voice in a fair and balanced debate like Fox news does then watch MSNBC (aka DNCTV) and then go high five your commie friends over at the Daily Kooks.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:18 am
Rightwing badass:
Methinks you are mentally challenged and unable to make adult conversation. But then again you watch Fox News so it’s expected.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Two questions:
Why was this aired?
And
Why would I care what Rev. Jackson has to say concerning Obama?
What a has-been?
Just like Don Imus, Rev. Sharpton and the Rev. Jackson are the only two black people Bill O’Reilly knows.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Well it’s just so shocking to find out so many public figures actually talk like ordinary people, just like Imus with his “hos,” and Bush with his “major league asshole.”
I wonder if we could bribe someone to release a tape of what Alan says when his mic is off. I bet it’s really funny.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
“I wonder if we could bribe someone to release a tape of what Alan says when his mic is off. I bet it’s really funny.”
Hells yeah! I’d pay for that tape.
After working in a call center for 5 years, I can tell you that my best friend was my mute button. Time and time again, I’d have to hit the mute button so that I could tell the caller what I really thought of their problem…
July 11th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Rightwing: It’s funny that TDro is telling anyone to “grow up”. I collected all his messages in my Feed reader and 100% of them are hyperpartisan , and often exteremely immature, personal attacks.
I wonder if he does that to people in the real world.
