  1. this isn’t going to be a fun episode for alan.

  2. honestly, i’m not a huge fan of the economic and otherwise statistical arguments. i think the pro gun side has the superior moral principle on the matter.

  3. This could be the day America sees which side has the “Real Patriots.” If Democrats could keep this nation united knowning the games this administration played with our national security; uniting the Party will be no problem. How we handle this debate shows how much we have grown. We do has some “Common Sense.”

  7. That was surreal. One moment Sean’s praising Bush’s handling of N. Korea, then, after a short rebuff from Bolton, he acts like he hadn’t sucked up to Bush in the least, agreeing quickly with Bolton.

Alan, when did Sean and John start dating?

  8. This should be some real fireworks. Kudos to Alan to having the strongest people on both sides of the debate with Lott versus the president of the leading gun control organization.

  9. Bush’s administration has been a disgrace and Pelosi’s congress has been a disgrace. Stop trying to push the blame one way or the other…they’re all worthless to us.

  13. This especially favors women.

  14. Told you guys he’d hate the topic.

  15. Alan, you left out transvestites. The tranny community deserves an apology.

  34. By the way, here in New York City (pop. 8.2 million) our crime rates were through the roof during the late 70’s and 1980’s. One of the most dangerous cities in the nation back then. I can personally attest to that. Then came Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg. And through them they established and upheld some of the most strict gun laws in the country.

Our crime rates are now down to what they were in 1963 and we are also now the No. 1 safest city in the country for cities with a population over 100,000.

Oh well… there goes the neighborhood.

  35. it’s online, but there are a couple of versions, at least. i’ll try to find it.

  36. When they ask me the town Ill say Liberal Land.

by Dave from Kentucky June 26, 2008 at 10:50 pm

OH that would be GREAT! Hey Dave!

  37. http://www.constitution.org/2ll/schol/2amd_grammar.htm

  38. Yeah here in Kentucky having a gun is like having a car. Everyone has one but some dont know how to use it.

And that caller that mentioned the murder suicide in Ky, he needs to understand that where that took place was across the river from Indiana which is refered to as Kentukiana which the rest of use in eastern and central kentucky dont claim as part of the state.

  39. Hell I got three guns, two rifles and a handgun, all relics from Americas wars.

    June 26th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
  40. Well, Epiphany, I respect that the crime rates may well be as you say, and I don’t claim more guns will in fact equal less crime, but that the principle on the side of self defense is the greater, even superceding it’s potential negative effects on the latter.

  41. Damn they told me to call back when alan opened the phones..

    Posted by Dave from Kentucky
    June 26th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
  42. Or, if you don’t like my mealy language. My right to choose a guns as a means of self defense supercedes crime rates.

  43. Well If someone had had a gun at the KY incident they could have shot that crazy fucker!

    Posted by Dave from Kentucky
    June 26th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
  44. a guns? oy at me.

  45. I understand how you feel WFG. Self defense is extremely important. But with our gun laws here, my city has become safe again which for me supercedes one’s need for self defense since in the end there is so much less crime and murder.

I do have a very nice knife collection. I also own a lead pipe. :)

  46. Also pepper spray. Haven’t had to use any of that yet.

  47. A buddie of mine said this also repeals the assualt gun ban. Anyone know if this is true?

  48. Well, to me it’s about the person, not the collective. Way I see it, I shouldn’t be a sacrifice for a statistic, though I’m clearly willing to sacrifice people for a principle.

I am either really evil or really good.

  49. I don’t know, Dave. I wouldn’t make any assumptions on that.

  50. Btw, I gave a link to the article I mentioned.

  51. “…though I’m clearly willing to sacrifice people for a principle.”

    WHAT?????

Anyway I’m buying this tomorrow. I suggest the rest of you do the same before they sell out.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00067F1CE/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

  52. The crime rate is a statistic. A lessening of capacity to acquire a gun out respect to ensuring that rate stays low creates increased, though how much cannot be known, risk to my person in the event of need. But we’re talking hypotheticals.

  53. LOL what the hell is that?

    Bodonka donk tank!! Classic!

Cheryl, let Tobias listen to Alan while he’s in bed. Not that that should put him to sleep but Alan’s voice might calm him down.

NOOOOOOOOOO to Nugent for Free For All! Don’t like Guns and Roses either. Try something from the greatest American rock band in history, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers!

  87. hey sky! what are you doing online at NIGHT??? what a treat to have you here!

yeah, i lay down with him. he’s slept with me since the first night i brought him home, and now i’m in a one bedroom apt so he still has to sleep with me. he won’t go to sleep unless i lie down with him.

  88. Maybe get him a twin sized bed that goes up against one wall, that’s what my parents did when we shared the same room.

  89. late-night babysitting…
You think that makes me a hippie: you should’ve seen me and Zanzan singing the entire Sgt Pepper album word for word today.
    Sorry bedtime’s rough.

  90. yeah, E. that’s a great idea. i’m definitely ready for some more space. i think i’d have to get one of those tiny toddler beds for it to fit, though. i’ve also thought about giving him my room, and putting my bed in the back half of the living room. and then buying one of those decorative screen things to separate my bedroom area from the living room.
