Friendfeed Vs. Twitter?

May 19, 2008

If you’ve used either or both of these, please let me know your thoughts.  Is one better than the other? Clearly, the face of blogging is changing.

  1. use twitter and i kinda like it

  2. I do, too, but unless you have friends on there to begin with, the mix of cultures makes communication difficult. Where does one reply, not how, but where is it appropriate? And it’s almost random what will come up. I don’t know about Friendfeed.

  3. Twitter and FriendFeed are good companion tools.

Twitter lets you post short 140-character updates, letting you alert followers on “what you are doing” or simply to make quick conversations and post a URL to your latest blog post.

FriendFeed lets you aggregate activity from many services, including Twitter, in a single place. With this data in one place, you can then engage with friends and peers by adding comments or “liking” items.

    My FriendFeed: http://www.friendfeed.com/louisgray/

  4. It seems like Twitter is a more of “what I’m doing” while Friendfeed is more of “what sites/things on the net I’m interested in.” As far as usefulness between those two I’d put Friendfeed up higher.

Because I’d much rather hear about a crazy LIBRUL site than to know that Alan is eating some soup at the moment…even if it’s good soup.

  5. I’ll probably just join the service Alan uses, or not, if it’s inconvenient for me.

  6. i have twitter. i like it alot. it’s not just what you’re doing it can also be used when you have a new blog post that you want read. i subscribe to obama, clinton, and mccain’s twitter feed as well as other groups besides just individuals. its very cool.

  7. oh and with twitter you can use a companion feed called twitterfeed that automatically checks your blog for new posts and then sends out a twitter on it. that would be a cool feature for you alan. and you could check out my blog if you want :)

  8. Alan, I just want online chat while the show’s on. Pretty please!

And can you please buy Della a computer so that she can blog along with us???

  9. I like where you’re going with this Alan, cause I’ve been saying for a long time you need to expand this site (and add an edit button).

Liberal Land has a lot of potential you just need to expand your template here a bit.

Where else could I publish liberal rants like this?

    Noelgood.blogspot

  10. Ohhhhh Cheryl, if you were here right now I would soundly bop you on the head with a pillow. Yes I would.

Your karma will be a chat room on this blog but everytime you go in there, there is only one person to talk to. Della.

    Everytime. 8->

  11. Oh, clever play on words, noel.

  12. I just hope it doesn’t turn into paltalk.

  13. I couldn’t find your blog Noel.

    Noelgood.blogstot?

  14. ZOEY’S BACK!!! Yeah!!! I’m so happy, Noel’s back from lala land, WFG’s back from being struck by lightning, and Zoey’s back from who knows where!

“Reunited and it feels so good…”

  15. Epiphany, LOL! No no, don’t wish that on me. :-(

You have to add the “.com” part to Noel’s url. I already have the RSS feed for it. It’s called “opinions and assholes”. I didn’t get that title at first…

  16. lmao cheryl you nut.

  17. http://friendfeed.com/wfg

  18. oh how i love these internets!

  19. I like intern nets. Stops their escaping.

  20. ^ LOL! You’re bad. ;]

  21. oh that’s just cold…Gary Condit cold

  22. –>Digression alert<—

Someone called on Friday and asked whatever happened to somebody who used to call all the time, and I can’t remember the name, but I’m remembering some guy who used to call when Alan was on WEVD and he’d do different voices all the time, and kind of explain, kind of slyly, why Alan is wrong about everything, and really it was kind of funny.

  23. You don’t mean “Elmo”, do you? I don’t remember his doing different voices, except that he had an unusual voice to begin with. He was one of my all time favorite callers, always telling Alan to pack up his little commie bag and leave. LOL!

  24. I’m not sure who I’m talking about, heh, but I kind of remember this guy who sometimes used a very suave urbane voice, like “he’s so smart and he knows best and poor little Alan living in his little dream world,” or something like this.

  25. Hahaha yeah RC that is definately Elmo! That’s exactly how he talks! Very sarcastic, as he were above it all. looking down on poor little commie Alan. He was hysterical. He was never really nasty and you could tell he liked Alan very much.

  26. Yeah, it was Elmo b/c one of the Red Eye guys joked that he wanted to be tickled. I wish I was listening back then, I know I would’ve gotten a kick out of those phone calls.

  27. Oh okie, glad to get that figured out. I never remember names. We really need a registry of Alan’s Top 100 Really Entertaining Callers.

What’s really weird is every time I hear Della’s name I think of Perry Mason’s secretary, Della Street. And for some reason I suspect if this were ever pointed out to her she’d go off like a Roman candle.

  28. I’d like Alan to set up a date between Della and Joe the Woman Hater.

  29. Della would set his ass STRAIGHT!

I’m still working on the radio graffiti list, and I have some nicknames for some of the callers = whispering bill anderson… the marine who screams “hoorah” at the end of all his calls, etc.

  30. look at ya’ll,

    ya’ll just wanna be heard……

  31. Amanda, you’re right… and thanks for listening!
