Hey, Where’s My Invitation?

May 10, 2008

The president discussed this weighty matter during his Saturday morning radio address.

“Today is my daughter Jenna’s wedding day,” he said. “This is a joyous occasion for our family as we celebrate the happy life ahead of her and her husband Henry. It’s also a special time for Laura, who, this Mother’s Day weekend, will watch a daughter we raised together walk down the aisle.”

But just as well that I’m not going.  My food taster is off today.

  1. I wonder if the anti war demonstrators will be given wedding cake or leftovers? and is it too late for jenna to sign up for military service? just to prove all those doubters that women CAN DO IT !!!!

  2. Ahhh… the wonderfully comfortable life of the elite. Henry Hager was an excellent choice for her, and I wouldn’t doubt that his political opinions influenced her refusal to state that she would vote for McCain.

    Did Hannity get an invitation???

  3. did I miss this story report in the US press, or is not being reported?

    US ‘authenticates’ Chavez-Farc ties

  4. Had no idea that the Crawford ranch is called the “Prairie Chapel Ranch,” but apparently the former owner raised turkeys and hogs.

    Now that seems very apt.

  5. And just when you thought you’d heard everything there is to hear about the wonderful great goodness of the free market economy and capitalism and leaving entrepreneurs to do their thing, free of government interference…

Bush comes along and prevents meatpackers from testing for mad cow disease: because tests “would create false assurances”.

  6. Don’t worry about it Alan, Bush send your invitation to FEMA…

so knowing how FEMA works, you should get your invitation by… 2012!

but on a brighter note in the political arena, this is what is happening:

    Obama Erases Clinton’s Superdelegate Lead

Illinois Senator Surpasses Hillary’s Once-Imposing Lead Among Democratic Party Leaders

(CBS/AP) Barack Obama has taken a slim lead over Hillary Rodham Clinton in the number of Democratic superdelegates Saturday, and won fresh labor backing as elements of the party began coalescing around the Illinois senator for the fall campaign.

According to the latest CBS News tally, Obama now has 273 superdelegates who have pledged their support compared to Clinton’s 271.

Overall, Obama now has 1,860 delegates and Clinton has 1,690. (Click here for the full CBS News state-by-state tally.)

  7. So did Hagee or Parsley officiate the ceremony?

  8. Barak Hussein Obama didn’t get 1 either.

Barak Hussein Obama [translated] means UNELECTEABLE !

  9. On September 11th, 2001, both of the twin towers collapsed at free-fall speed.

“Communist parties, when they didn’t have any more arguments, used to say that who opposed them was crazy.”

  10. :)

  11. It’s true.

  12. “Barak Hussein Obama [translated] means UNELECTEABLE !”

Do I sense fear of facing Barack? Some Republicans’ desperate screams for us to nominate Hillary are so easy to see through, because that’s who they’ve wanted to run against from day one.

  13. *does another obama dance*
    peace and love, people!

  14. I’m posting this question on a couple threads in the hopes of getting as much feedback as possible. If you’re going to weigh in, you may want to do so on the “McCain’s First Appointee…” thread.

I have a question for everyone, based on some books I’m reading. This question isn’t biased towards Christians or non-Christians.

Do you think that if our nation loses its association with Christianity, and its association with what most people think is our Christian history, that our society will degrade into an out of control state of selfishness? If we lose our so-called Christian principles, what principles and moral code would we use to decide between right and wrong?

    Thanks homies.

  15. Sky~ how exactly does the ‘obama dance’ go? :-)

  16. I believe that organized religion breeds intolerance.

  17. Annie~ good thought. I think that it’s probably true with only Christianity, Muslims, and Judaism. All the others seem to be pretty tolerant.

  18. Hmmm, I’m thinking the “organized religion breeds intolerance” theory might be compared to guns.

The talking point: Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. The response: Yeah, but guns sure make it a whole lot easier.

Religion is our weapon and papyrus provides the bullets.

  19. “I believe that organized religion breeds intolerance.”
    If not ignorance.

  20. The talking point: Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. The response: Yeah, but guns sure make it a whole lot easier.

Sometimes that just proves their awesomeness.

  21. “Sometimes that just proves their awesomeness.”

Well, OK, if you’re playing Grand Theft Auto then fine.

  22. Nah, I actually meant it in the context of self defense in the event you need to be certain the perp is down and don’t have time to waist on just him.

I can’t blame GTA for my psychosis.

  23. Hey Cherylcarrol,
There are many periods in history of desolation and death which followed those who lived by they’re own codes of conduct. Your question shows your ingnorance of history.
