• Should students be allowed to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish?
I’d be interested to know what Dr. Dyson thinks of Rev. Wright’s “right-brain” learning hypothesis, and whether this might promote the under-performing of African-American students.
I don’t care what language the pledge is recited in, as long as English becomes our national language. It doesn’t make sense to NOT make it national. We’ve got to communicate with each other, and the majority of folks speak English.

As for the pledge, screw it regardless of language. The myth, rumor, whichever, that Obama refuses to say the pledge is a positive in my book.

Jeremiah Wright is no friend of Barack Obama. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say he was a Hillary or McCain supporter.
I just heard Mr. Wright is going to write a book scheduled to come out right before election day. He is loving the spotlight and Barack Obama be damned, not America. He is cashing in big time.
It is all about him. A man with an ego as big as the moon. He could care less how his dramatic appearances and provocative words are impacting Barack’s campaign.

Mouse~ you know, I feel like he’s starting to capitalize on the situation, too. Now if he’s capitalizing on the opportunity to share his philosophy, more power to him. If he’s capitalizing on the situation to save a little money for his pending retirement, I’m even for that. But if he’s capitalizing on this to “cash in” as you said, then I’m not for that at all. It’s very important for Christians and other spiritual leaders to not be blinded by the money and fame…
Rev.(sic) Wright said the US government created AIDS to kill black people. What part of that racist paranoid lie am I not understanding correctly because I am not black. Well, those people spreading these lies must be feeling guilty, cause they know that their people’s promiscuous behavior has resulted in a bumper crop of venereal diseases and illegitimate children.

Reverend Wright is stating his views, quite well really. Sure you might not agree but the debate is on!
This issue was never going to go away. No matter what Bill Oreilly says it was always going to continue to dog Barack even if Wright spent his entire spring and summer in Seychelles.
This needs to be resolved. Not forgotten. Let’s have an honest debate about Wright and where he’s coming from.

Since I am utterly at odds with this Reverend Wright’s bogus politics and race hustling, let’s start the debate! After all, these were sermons he felt comfortable enough to tape and sell on a DVD, so drop the cherry picking claim. Also, Obama felt comfortable enough to use him as the main inspiration for his book, with a title cobbed from the Rev’s sermon, “Audacity of Hope”. Obama packaged himself as a race transcender but this Rev and his antics seem to defy that. By the way, he is friends with Farrakhan and trashes Israel, so as a Jew I have no problem trashing this rich hypocritical fraud of a black preacher.
BTW: Lee HArvey Oswald was a Marine too, does that make him a patriot in the Wright mold?

I too am Jewish buddy (can I call you buddy?) but I fell in love with this Jewish guy named Jesus and have earned the scorn of some of my family (another story…sad sad story)and have served in the military.
Reverend Wright’s anti-semitism is simply untrue, but even Jewish family of mine shows sympathy and remorse for the suffering Palestians.
All of Reverend Wright’s sermons are on DVD. I’ve seen like 20. All churches record the day’s sermons. The truth is Reverend Wright just has nothing juicy enough to show on FOX. (He’s not always
so “Bombastic”)
The Farrakhan connection is mild. Farrakhan understands Wright’s anger at America’s actions around the world (and at home) and similarly feels God’s judgement will come harshly. But they’re not butt-buddies or anything. (Wright said “We are not enemies”)

Reverend Wright’s affection for Farrakahn is deep, enough so that his church honored Farrakhan, a Muslim. If he hangs with Farrakhan, then he’s scum like him or he is going to spend a lot of time proving otherwise. There was also a little screed on his church’s newletter from some Nation of Islam creep who claimed Israel developed special bombs to kill Blacks and Arabs. This same Jew hating Muslim hack claimed that justice will only be obtained if Israel was eliminated, so the Jews there could live in democratic harmony with all the Islamic Hamas nutcases and other anti-Semites there. talk about a Disney fairy tale. The Nation of Islam’s whole faith is based on BLATANTLY racist and anti-semitic lies, but don;t let that interfere with your kumbaya. I call Reverend Wright out as an enemy of Israel and America, or at best another left wing cretin who would hold America to some moral standard that he would hold no other nation.

It’s funny that I’ve long hated the Nation of Islam and Muslim faith as a whole.
I agree that the faith is inherently anti-Jewish
(The Koran, Book of “The Cow” 2.88 says Allah curses Jews cause they don’t believe and 2.98 says Allah is the enemy of unbelievers. -there’s more)
I agree that Israel is (and always has been) the province of the Jewish people. They have lost it through war. They have been persucuted and murdered by nearly every nation on earth since the beginning of time.
The Jewish people rightly deserve Israel. The Palestinian’s home is Israel for thousands of years. Britain really fouled up the whole mess after WW1 and WW2 was a big mess for Israel’s adoption.
Not that the Muslims helped. They reacted to Israel with nothing but hate, lies, and war.
A war they lost. A war where they should have lost a lot more. A war that could have been avoided with just the smallest bit of compromise.
A compromise that never came.
The Muslims have never accepted Palestinians into their countries. They talk a big game of comraderie, but won’t lift much of a hand in providing homes.
Israel defends herself vigorously and harshly -as they should.
Muslim country’s are in disarray. The very rich and powerful kill the middle class. The very rich and powerful use “distractions, scapegoats, and prejudices” to hold political sway. (Sound familiar?)
These “power games” use anti-Jewish sentiment to fuel their grip over the poor.
This is where the true face of the middle east conflict resides.
It’s 3 fold.
1st is the Palestinians who just want their homes back.
2nd is the middle east that crushes the middle class (important to rule fully) spreads hate and uses Palestinian cause for political purpose.
3rd People like Farrakhan who support Muslims.
Of course I hate the guy. He’s a racist and a dangerous man. But he’s right when he says “America needs to stay out of foreign affairs” The same way Ron Paul is right when he says the same thing.
And really there are many patriotic Americans who hate how intrusive our politics have become.
So on that level, I believe Wright is in accord with Farrakhan, but then there’s the issue of Mousa Abu Marzook’s manifesto in the newsletter titled
“A fresh view of the Palestinian struggle”
It lists how Hamas helps this and that, hates Israel, insists that Israel is recognized, but at the expense of them and their millions of refugees, it talks about America’s own Declaration of Independence, and nearly a million black slaves.
It goes on about Palestinian right to the land and hope that they can “tend to the olive groves of their fathers” ect ect ect.
There is no doubt these men kill Israelis.
But why is Jeremiah Wright showing this manifesto?
The answer is simple (At least I’m trying my best to condense hundreds of years of conflict in a single post!)
Because this issue of the Palestinians and the Jews is the catalyst of Armegeddon. Whether your Jewish, Christian, or Muslim our prophets have fortold that this issue of Israel reaches all the way to the end of time. (Which may be 2012! But that’s a whole other story.)
This much is clear. Israel is caught up in a terrible never ending contention of biblical proportions. I feel this quarrel goes right into the heart of man, to the center of God’s plan, and our purpose in this world and the key to the next.
But I digress.
If there is any hope to secure peace for a time, we need to recognize Palestine and Hamas as -to quote Jimmy Carter- (sic)”people who are going to have to be at the table of peace in order for peace to succeed.”
So read the bulletin, understand the Palestinian viewpoint and reflect on the struggle outside of the personal hate (and a deserved hate for a large part) we have for what these people do.
If we don’t we’re just going to kill each other.

Excellent and interesting post Noel. You’re right and Jimmy Carter is right and we should talk to them until we’re blue in the face for as long as it takes. Even if it takes until a meteorite hits the earth, in which case, we won’t need to talk anymore.
You have to talk to your enemies. What is the alternative? No you can’t just blow them to kingdom come. I doubt that many people have the emotional fortitude and patience to do so for say, the next 10 or 20 years as it may take that long, but there must be others besides Carter.
I realize it probably won’t work in the end. I am not the hopeful and optimistic type. And sometimes I wish that a meteorite WOULD hit the earth because this planet makes me sick in a big way. Actually the planet is fine; it’s the people that make me feel like I need a constant transfusion of pepto bismal. Disgusting species, humans.
But yes. Let’s give it a try before we’re vaporized.

Sadly, or maybe not, Rev. Wright is dismantling the Obama candidacy. He, Wright, makes people think: How can a man, Obama, (and his wife from whom we’ve heard little about Wright) be a member of Wright’s church for 20 years and not somehow be sanctioning his general views? His wife and impressionable children must also surely be in Wright’s persuasion and partake of his poisonous views of America.
Preacher Wright is no different than any other minister of religion. He’s no different than Benny Hinn, Hagee, Dobson, Falwell or Warren Jeffs. All are only in the “business” for their own selfish interest and well-being. Prosperity preachers tending to and shearing their sheep.
Wright has single handedly dismantled the Obama campaign. What a freakin’ idiot.
We’ll now be stuck with a choice of Hillary or McCain in November and endless whining from Black America about how mistreated they are by racist America. Hillary is only another tool of Wall Street and big business. McCain is nothing better and worse, he’s ancient.

Why the Rev. Wrong blames current “white america” for ills of the black community puzzles me. It’s not the “whitemans” fault that every day the Rev. wakes up in his million dollar plus mansion in a predominately white gated community and looks in the mirror to see to his disgust that he still is a “man of color”. We, white america, didn’t paint his face as he slept. It was “his” God (if he truly does indeed believe in one) that assigned him his shade of black. What the Rev should realize is that no amount of whining will ever change that fact. If he in fact does believe that being “white” has advantages he could always pay a visit to Michael Jacksons’ dermatologist and get some tubes of the “magic cream” that he used but then as a “white man” he’ll be exposed to all the violence committed by those of his former race upon those of the fairer skin.
