McCain’s “Spiritual Guide”: America Founded To Destroy Islam

March 14, 2008

Rod Parsley was referred to by John McCain as his “spiritual guide” at a February 26 rally in Cincinnati.  In his 2005 book, Silent No More Parsley says:

  • “America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed.”
  • “It was to defeat Islam, among other dreams, that Christopher Columbus sailed to the New World in 1492″
  • “Allah was a demon spirit.”
  • “Are we a Christian nation? I say yes.”

His Center For Moral Clarity promotes treating adultery as a felony.

Since adultery is a felony in Michigan, the act of having sex outside marriage could put illicit couples behind bars. Perhaps court systems across the nation should treat adultery for what it truly is: lying, cheating and stealing.

And here’s what he says about gays:

“I lift my voice against the agenda of America’s tortured and angry homosexual population. In essence the Supreme Court on June 26, 2003, legalized the perverted act of sodomy…This is about the destruction of the very covenant…They are intending to pervert God’s original intention.”

  1. Oh my God (no pun intended). Why hasn’t the mainstream media picked up on this? They’ve been showing Reverend Wright all day, so why not show this? Thank you for posting this Alan. I really hope you can show this on your show tonight. This needs to be seen. I wonder if there are any other videos where he speaks out against Islam and other issues as was mentioned above.

Of course both of these religious leaders are making me sick. One is no better than the other. Dueling preachers. I suppose one cancels out the other. It’s not good either way.

I really do long for Martin Luther King and Billy Graham. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

  2. Did Mc cains SA tell him to sing bomb bomb bomb Iran or tell I E D jokes on late night TV?

But seriously he wants to become president…give me a break

  3. Well, if I can borrow a bit from Lewis Black, maybe Parley is one of these advisers, who, whatever he says, you do the opposite.

  4. DOUBLE STANDARD!

I hate the fact that Foxnews and rightwing talk radio put a spotlight on Barack Obama’s pastor yet they ignore McCain’s spiritual guide!

    Incredible!

    Im sick of this crap!

Hannity, you have sunk to a new low!

  5. “Hannity, you have sunk to a new low!”
Yes, but there is always tomorrow; where he can try to get even lower.
I have every confidence that he’ll make it, too!

  6. I don’t hear any of these pastors, saying the Lords name in vain over and over again. I have listen to this Pastor and John Hagee. This Obama pastor is a hate munger, and teaches hate. And yes I don’t want any muslim terriost destroying our Country. And if you all really want to get right down to the nitty gritty, the Indians own all this land. Remerber white man took it away from them. They live on very poor reservations, and they also fight for this country. You all turn my stomach.

  7. “You all turn my stomach.”

Try some Pepto-Bismal. It works wonders.

  8. I FEAR MOST AMERICANS WILL BE MORE INCENSED BY WRIGHT’s REMARKS THAN PARSLEY.

  9. “Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
    Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme…”

An old classic song by Simon and Garfunkel about four extremely controversial preachers.

I’m sorry. I just had to.

  10. Parsley committed blasphemy. He said that God is an evil spirit. Allah is God. Shaitan (Iblis) is Satan. Adam (Man) was made out of clay. Satan hated man. Satan tells God (Allah), “why should I bowed down to him. He was made out of clay. I am made out of fire.” Satan thought he was far better than man. He wanted all the angels to bow down to him, not to Adam. Allah kicked Satan and his followers out of heaven because he refused to obey Allah and bow down to man.

If Allah is the Devil as Parsley claimed, why would Allah kick the Devil out of Paradise (Jannah) or heaven? Would He be kicking Himself out? Is he saying that the Devil casted out the Devil? Jesus was accused of casting evil spirits on people causing them to be able to see, for example. Were they saying that he was using evil spirits to cast out the evil spirits? A kingdom divided is a kingdom destroyed.

Parsley is someone I won’t follow. He obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about. And Wright is someone I won’t follow, especially if he hangs around phonies like Farrakhan and the un-Islamic “Nation of Islam.”

  11. with vast amount of enemy outside and unpatriotic enemies inside, america need strong leader not a leader sitting down with a country size of texas trying to do us harm if we don’t negotiate

  12. Keep hammering on this on H&C, Alan. I saw Melanie Morgan running scared the other night from your question about it. Hold the right-wingers feet to the fire on this issue along with their double standards.

Darla @ 10:58pm: I don’t hear any of these pastors, saying the Lords name in vain over and over again.

I assume you’re talking about the God d*amn remark. According to what I heard on FOX News just awhile ago, that looks like it’ being taken out of context by showing only that short video clip. Apparently, Wright was referencing the bible book of Amos which talks about God’s judgement (or damnation if you will) on nations who sin.

  13. [...] advisers,” received a fraction of the attention generated by Wright. As both David Corn and Alan Colmes, among others, have documented, Parsley espouses views at least as extreme and radical as Wright, [...]

  14. Listening to all the hatred and bashing makes me sick. Is that where we want to lead our children for the future? While I have no problem in questioning the integrity of someone like Obama, the rhetoric of Sean Hannity is really reeling in hatred. I think people like Mr. Hannity help to promote divisiveness in this country, that is NOT what America needs right now. When you go to sleep do you really have a free conscience? I bet you do. I also think sound bites can be very misleading tell the whole story please.
Why do I need to be judged by what my best friend says. Is that fair, if you have children Mr. Hannity do you expect their friends to treat them based on the mean and very high handed manner in which you speak to people?
Be fair, judge the man based on his character. The bible says do unto others as you would have them do to you.
You have never been black so you cannot speak from the gut of a black man.
By the way what is your honest opinion, do you think that the “unknown” Obama is going to harm America. I guess that is the question.
